Concert Pianist · Collaborative Artist · Educator
Born and raised in Taiwan, Shu-Peng Wang began studying piano during his childhood,
drawn to the instrument’s expressive power and architectural beauty. Over the years, that
curiosity evolved into a lifelong pursuit of artistry, leading him across the globe as a
performer, collaborator, and educator.
Dr. Wang earned his Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from the University of
Houston, where he also served as assistant director of the AURA Contemporary
Ensemble. In that role, he immersed himself in the performance of cutting-edge new
music, working closely with faculty composers, guest artists, and advanced student
musicians. His doctoral research, Baroque Meets Jazz, explores the stylistic fusion in
Nikolai Kapustin’s Suite in the Old Style, reflecting his fascination with cross-genre
expression.
Wang’s performance career spans solo recitals, chamber music, and orchestral
appearances throughout the United States, Spain, and Taiwan. He has performed at
esteemed festivals including the Texas Music Festival, the International Keyboard
Institute Festival (New York), and the Valencia International Performing Arts Summer
Festival (Spain). As a collaborative pianist, he has worked with singers and instrumentalists across a wide range of repertoire, including fully staged productions with
the Boston University Opera Institute at the Emerson Cutler Majestic Theatre and Joan &
Edgar Booth Theatre. His sensitivity and versatility at the keyboard continue to make him
a sought-after partner in both traditional and contemporary settings.
Dr. Wang is equally dedicated to teaching. Over the past decade, he has guided students
of various ages and backgrounds in private and group settings, including elementary
school keyboard classes and advanced pre-college instruction. Many of his students have
passed ABRSM exams with distinction and earned recognition in regional competitions.
His teaching philosophy emphasizes musical integrity, technical clarity, and a nurturing
environment where students can develop both skill and confidence.
With a deep commitment to collaborative music-making and student growth, Shu-Peng
Wang continues to balance performance and pedagogy with equal passion—sharing
music not only as a craft, but as a means of connection, expression, and transformation.
